My sweet Liam has yet another hernia. It is where his colostomy is so his little side bulges out in a dome shape now. His colostomy bag was coming off every day and sometimes twice a day for a while now, not fun for either of us. I made an appointment with his general surgeon to see what to do. I was not too happy with the news. He said that if we couldn't get his bag to stay on then we would have to operate. And since they would have him open they would fix the other hernia, reverse his ureterostomy (opening where pee comes out on his right side), and put a catheterizable channel in his vesicostomy (like permanent valve that will come out where his "stuff" should be and then cath that to drain the urine). They wanted to wait until he was 4 or 5 to do all this because he still does not have a ton of skin and muscle to reclose once he is open, so they would have to do graphs. Are only hope was to get this bag to stay on. The Dr. set us up with this lady who is a colostomy specialist, so back to DC we went.
This lady was AWESOME to say the least. I laid Liam on the table and she went right to work. As soon as she got his pants and shirt off she said, "Well for one thing his colostomy bag is a few sizes to small." After that she changed the bag and put a larger one on, contacted another lady from the Hollister place, where we get his supplies, and had them send over a ton of samples of things with different bags and belts to help hold them to his belly. Then said, "Ok your all set." That was it!! I walked out of there with my little man and I wanted to cry with relief! I now only have to change his bag about every 3 to 4 days, totally doable! I feel free, free to go where ever without the worry of is his bag coming off. So, hopefully no surgery's for a few more years.
We are happy again!

He is ADORABLE Linz!
Oh thank goodness! I was worried for a minute there, but am so glad it worked out so well! What a darling picture, too.
That's great news that he doesn't need another surgery right now. We need to get together soon. I can't believe we find out in a few weeks.
So glad that he is doing so well.
That's great news.
He's such a cutie. That smile is infectious!
What a relief! What an awesome lady. Here's to freedom from poop!!!
